During 2022 and 2023, the FTS continued with its investments aimed at upgrading the outdoor sports facilities at various schools. These investments are aimed at improving the sports infrastructure in state schools, both for recreational purposes, as well as to improve the level of sports education. These investments are being made against the background of national policies to address childhood obesity.
During 2022, FTS upgraded sports grounds with synthetic turf in more than 20 schools with an investment of approximately €300,000.
Apart from this, at St. Margaret College Cospicua Middle School FTS rebuilt the sports ground and installed new synthetic turf. This project was also completed in 2022 with an investment of approximately €200,000.
At Maria Regina College Mosta Secondary School (also known as Iż-Żokrija), the FTS rebuilt the roof of the car park below the school ground. This roof is also the surface of the sports ground. The sports ground was covered with new synthetic turf and it is now used for different sports activities. The reconstruction of the roof of the car park and the sports ground were completed in 2022 with an investment of approximately €350,000.
