Malta Vision 2050 is a long-term national strategic framework, unveiled in early 2026, which sets out the country’s development pathway over the next 25 years. It is centred on achieving sustainable economic growth, enhancing quality of life, and strengthening national resilience. The strategy is structured around six flagship pillars, supported by measurable interim targets to be achieved by 2035. Under the overarching theme “Shine Here”, the Vision encompasses economic, digital, social, environmental, and infrastructure transformation.
A key pillar of this framework, “Future-Ready Education and Skills”, underscores the importance of aligning Malta’s education system with the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape. Within this pillar, Pledge 66 specifically highlights the need for strategic investment in resilient and sustainable educational infrastructure, with the objective of providing safe, modern, and inclusive learning environments for both educators and students.
This measure reflects the national commitment to ensuring that Malta’s educational infrastructure is equipped to meet future capacity requirements, integrate advanced digital technologies, and adhere to sustainability standards. Such investment is fundamental to fostering equitable access, enhancing educational outcomes, and supporting a high-quality learning experience.
The Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools (FTS) plays a central role in the delivery of these objectives. Through its current programme of works – representing an investment of approximately €100 million – FTS is actively contributing to the development of a future-ready educational ecosystem. Its projects are directly aligned with the targets set out in Vision 2050, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to modern, resilient, and inclusive educational infrastructure across Malta.
