This ambitious project is twofold: it consists of the modernisation of the football ground adjacent to the Fgura Primary School and the construction of a new headquarters for Fgura Scout Group.
The ground forms an important space for the community, especially for children attending the primary school and young people who play with Fgura United FC. This investment will play a central role in improving the accessibility and overall quality of sports facilities in this locality.
The ground, measuring approximately 900 square metres, will be covered with synthetic turf, while the perimeter wall will be replaced with a new fencing. On the site there is enough space for the creation of two mini-football pitches. During school hours, the ground will be used by children at the primary school, and after school hours it will be used by Fgura United FC. This project includes the development of an indoor non-commercial gymnasium.
As a separate component of this project, FTS will build a new headquarters for Fgura Scout Group on the same site.
This investment will amount to €2 million. FTS will be responsible for the management, quality assurance, and delivery of the project, while financing will be done through Community Malta Agency.
FTS is planning this project under the direction of the Ministry for Education and Sports (MES), and in full collaboration with Community Malta Agency, Fgura United FC, and the Fgura Scout Group.
This investment forms part of a broader programme to upgrade sports facilities managed by the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools. In 2025 alone, FTS has invested approximately €1,341,535 in sports facilities across various schools.
Further projects are planned in the coming months, including the installation of new synthetic turf at San Ġwann football ground adjacent to the primary school, and the main playgrounds at Ħad-Dingli Secondary School, Ħal Kirkop Secondary School, and Santa Luċija Secondary School. These initiatives are currently at the public procurement stage. This is in addition to the massive investment on the construction of a new ground and facilities at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School in Naxxar. The latter amounting to approximately €27 million.
