At Ħal Qormi (San Ġorġ) Primary School we are demolishing old roofs and other components that are not structurally sound. The demolished areas will be re-built in this ambitious project that involves the the re-construction of the school, while keeping the beautiful old facades. This school is located in a two-storey building that was built in the first half of the Twentieth Century and is now about a hundred years old. The project also involves the construction of a receded floor on the existing building.
The new school will have over thirty classrooms, including spaces for the kindergarten and for specific subjects such as art and music. It will have a nurture room, multi-sensory rooms, a psycho-social room, and a classroom for Personal, Social and Career Development. The school hall, which is adjacent to the main school building with a separate entrance, will undergo various structural changes. The project also includes the redevelopment of the playgrounds and the childcare center.
The new school will be able to accommodate around 700 children. The project is being carried out in phases so as to ensure it will remain operational throughout.
