Excavation works at the site of the new Naxxar Primary School have been completed. The school is being redeveloped by FTS into a modern educational facility that will be spread over five floors, two of them underground.
The façade of the original 1949 school building, designed in the local modernist style, is being carefully preserved and integrated into the new school’s design. The same applies for various archaeological findings, which include a Punic tomb and a World War II shelter.
The new Naxxar Primary School is estimated to cost approximately €21.5 million. The project is being co-funded by the European Union. The EU funds project title is: ‘ERDF.03.280 Enhancing educational facilities in Naxxar through the construction and setting up of a new primary school’.
