The new Msida Primary School opened its doors to pupils at the start of the new scholastic year in September 2024.
This major project involved the demolition of the old primary school and the building of a completely new school on the same site. The new school has 40 classrooms – 26 normal classrooms and a number of other classrooms for specific subjects such as personal and social development, art, music, science, literacy, and ethics.
The school also has a childcare centre, a public library and a hall that can accommodate around 300 people. The public library, the hall, and parts of the recreational spaces can be used by the local community after school hours through separate entrances.
The size of the whole school, including the recreation areas, is about 10,000 square meters.
As part of this project, we also built a new complex for the Msida Sea Scouts, with a space of more than 500 square meters outside and inside. The Msida Sea Scouts Complex has separate external access and includes several ancillary facilities, including an area intended for recreational purposes, as well as a sizeable warehouse.
Under the school we built a car park on two levels for around 180 cars.
This project was carried out with an investment of €24,000,000. It was financed under the NextGenerationEU Programmes through Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Warm congratulations to all pupils and educators as they begin their journey in the new school!
