The Ħal Għaxaq Primary School, which forms part of St. Benedict College, is housed in a two-storey building that was built in the 20th Century. This project involves the construction of an additional floor on the existing building so that the school can meet with the increased population of this locality. In addition, the old parts of the school will be totally refurbished and modernised.
Through the project we are addressing the accessibility of the building to be in accordance with the law. We are also introducing energy efficient measures, as well as provide shading areas within the outdoor recreational space. As part of the project we will be installing new services, such as lighting, water, sewerage, CCTV, internet connection, alarm, and fire safety services.
The primary school has a population of approximately 350 pupils and this is estimated to grow to approximately 400 within a few years’ time.
This project is funded under the NextGenerationEU Programmes by means of Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
