The Ħal Għaxaq Primary School, which was extensively refurbished and modernised by FTS over a period of two years, opened its doors to pupils at the start of the new scholastic year in September 2023.

This project involved the construction of an additional floor on the existing building so that the school can meet with the increased population of this locality. During the execution of the project, the school had a population of approximately 350 pupils.

In addition, the old parts of the school were totally refurbished and modernised. Through the project we’ve addressed the accessibility of the building to be in accordance with the law. We also introduced energy efficient measures, as well as provided shading areas within the outdoor recreational space.  As part of the project we installed new services, such as electricity, water, sewerage, CCTV, internet connection, alarms, and fire safety services.

This project was done with a capital investment in excess of €6,000,000 and FTS obtained EU funds for it. It was funded under the NextGenerationEU Programmes by means of Malta’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
